Man charged over woman’s alleged murder in North Queensland

Days after her body was discovered in the forest, a man from North Queensland has been charged with murdering his partner.

The homicide investigation was started when the corpse of the 44-year-old lady was discovered by youths in Bluewater, north of Townsville, on Saturday, August 13.

Around the time of the alleged attack, according to police, the 38-year-old male was allegedly driving a red Toyota in the Bluewater neighbourhood before travelling south on the Bruce Highway.

On August 14, the 38-year-old is charged with shooting one shot into a passing car at Yalboroo, south of Proserpine.

The motorist, who was unharmed in the collision, called the police, who subsequently detained the suspect at a Proserpine gas station.
